Agenda Item: Tackling Child Marrige and Enchancing Children’s Rights

An estimated 640 million girls and women alive today were married during childhood. Once married, a girl's world significantly narrows. Child brides are often isolated from their families, friends, and communities. Their access to education is frequently curtailed as they are withdrawn from school.
Furthermore, the importance of their education is diminished or deemed unnecessary, as their roles are primarily linked to domestic or familial responsibilities. This exposes them to various forms of violence (sexual, physical, and emotional), endangers their health, weakens their hopes and potential, and pushes them into experiences they are neither physically nor mentally prepared for, such as motherhood.
Girls who marry early are often pregnant while still children themselves, leading to substantial risks to their own well-being and that of their babies. Over three days, participants will discuss ‘Tackling Child Marrige and Enchancing Children’s Rights’ in line with their policies and work toward drafting a resolution paper with a common solution.
