Although BLGMUN is an educational exercise intended for young people, delegates are simulating the Councils of the United Nations. Thus, for the period of the conference, they must be regarded as diplomats and ambassadors for the country they are representing, as well as representatives of their individual schools. This demands a high standard of personal conduct and behaviour from all delegates, both during the conference sessions and outside the logistics of the conference venue.
It is extremely important for our school that delegates always behave appropriately.
Therefore, schools are expected to select their students carefully and not bring to our conference any student who is likely to create a disciplinary problem.
The BLGMUN'25 Secretariat will handle violations of the guidelines listed below on a case-by-case basis. Failure to abide by these guidelines could result in expulsion from the conference.
• All delegates must be in their assigned committee rooms throughout committee sessions. Delegates are expected to be on time to all committee sessions and mandatory events.
• Tobacco products of any kind are prohibited.
• Use or possession of alcohol is strictly prohibited for all delegates.
• Possession of facsimile weapons (including laser light pens) is not permitted.
• Delegates are expected to be respectful and mindful of all national cultures.
SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
Delegates should not be using Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, or any other kind of social media during committee sessions. Outside of committee sessions, delegates should practice appropriate behavior on these sites and apps. Inappropriate postings and/or bullying via social media will not be tolerated, and students found in violation of this policy may face i) Disqualification from awards, ii) Suspension from the remainder of committee sessions, and iii) Dismissal from the conference.
PHOTO POLICY
All delegates may be documented, either in photographic or video form, at points throughout the conference by BLGMUN'25 staff, and/or by outside press in attendance. The images may get posted on BLGMUN'25's internet platforms.
ADVISOR REQUIREMENTS
The following chaperone related policies are implemented to ensure delegate safety:
• At least one advisor present per each delegation
• An advisor/delegate ratio no higher than 2 advisor for every 25 delegates
Delegates and teachers must be always courteous to the Bilgi Schools Staff and to the BLGMUN Organisational and Administrative Staff, most of whom are volunteers giving up many hours of their own time to serve the delegates.
DRESS CODE
All delegates must adhere to an appropriate and professional dress code. Western Business Attire is required of all participants while committees are in session. BLGMUN staffers reserve the right, at their discretion, to request that delegates violating the dress code change their clothes.
Western Business Attire is not required for out-of-committee events, namely at the Gala Dinner. Still, delegates are encouraged to maintain casual but appropriate attire. If a BLGMUN staffer deems an outfit unacceptable, they reserve the right to ask a delegate to change his or her clothes.
BLGMUN POLICY ON UNDIPLOMATIC BEHAVIOUR, BULLYING, HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION
All forms of undiplomatic behaviour, bullying, harassment, and discrimination are not acceptable. Such acts and behaviour are incompatible with BLGMUN'25's educational mission and are a violation of our values.
Anyone who believes they have seen or encountered undiplomatic behaviour, bullying, harassment, or discrimination should bring it to the attention of the BLGMUN'25's Secretariat. The allegations will be investigated, and a response will follow. Consequences may include issuing a verbal reprimand, expelling violators from the conference without compensation, barring violators from future BLGMUN involvement, as well as barring their respective schools from future BLGMUN involvement.
The BLGMUN'25 has the right to take these, or any other actions deemed appropriate in order to ensure the safe participation of all students and to uphold the values and ethos of the BLGMUN'25.
